THANKSGIVING TRIP

NOVEMBER 2007

Thanksgiving A Week To Remember

Monday the 19Th of November the Roberts' and Troglins' started for Lavic Siding east of Barstow to establish camp for our Thanksgiving Day festivities and rock hounding. We were met at camp by Dorothy and Garland Land; and Rob and Evonne Lind from Tucson AZ... then later the Goochs' from Oakhurst and Neal and Doris Jacobson arrived.

Tuesday we went searching for sites for the field trips, we went to Chambliss for trilobites, hematite, garnet and epidote. This would turn out to be our Friday trip.

Wednesday we went to the Cady Mt's, to look for the elusive green jasper. We promptly had three vehicles stuck in the sand and didn't find any green jasper. We then tried plan B in a new location but didn't have any luck in finding new material so we opted for old sites for Saturday trip.

Thursday was turkey day. A short trip for Lavic Jasper, and a return to camp for deep fried turkey and all the trimmings provided by many good cooks. Thanks for all the effort extended everyone to make this a good trip.

Good rock hounding was had by all on Friday and Saturday with much material collected and good fellowship shared by all. We had approximately 24 plus people attending. Lots of new friends and memories shared around the campfire.

Let me know where you would like to go next year..
