Indian Grinding Rock Field Trip

We would like to extend a special Thank You to Russ Shoemaker for a great presentation at Stories and Stones and Terry McMillin for arranging our field trip to Stories & Stones, Indian Grinding Rock and Black Chasm Caverns.

At Stories and Stones Mr. Shoemaker showed us how we are what we eat and rocks & minerals are a part of that. After that we went to Indian Grinding Rock, there we learned a lot about the Miwok Indians and how they lived. After the presentation by the California State Park tour guide we went to see the Black Chasm Caverns. Inside the cavern we learned how stalagmites, stalactites and helictites are formed.

The caverns boast they have the most helictites. There was a lot, but we didn't count them. After our tour we all shopped in the gift store to see what they had in stock. Once we spent all of our money we hit the road and this was the trip Stories & Stones, Indian Grinding Rock and the glorious Black Chasm Caverns.
