About our Club

          Our club is devoted to educating, enlightening and educating its members and the public in many areas evolving from its mission in the earth sciences and lapidary arts. The club participates in, teaches and promotes classes at the Modesto Junior College in beginning and advanced lapidary, beginning and advanced jewelry making, lost wax casting, stone setting, wire wrapping , beading, gem carving, intarsia and faceting.
          Additionally we have programs at our club meetings on fossils, geology and  florescent minerals for our junior and regular members as well as participating in regularly scheduled field trips to seek out and collect rocks, minerals and fossils.
          The Mother Lode Mineral Society is one of the premier gem and mineral clubs in Central California with a prize winning monthly publication called the Ghost Sheet and one of the largest annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil shows in the state. Our meetings are on the first Sunday of the month (except for July and August) in Empire (near Modesto)at the Community center on I St. beginning at 12:45 for the juniors and 2:30 for the general meeting.  Guests and prospective new members are always welcome to attend.  For membership information please contact the Membership Secretary listed below.

To expose and educate the general public to the joys of the earth sciences, lapidary arts by providing quality instructions on state of the art equipment. Regularly scheduled field trips are coordinated for the purposes of education and material collecting, informative and instructive monthly general membership meetings, production of an annual Mother Lode Mineral Society Show, promoting the mission of the society.
